What led you to your role at Tenn?

I started working at Coutts and worked my way up through various roles over there, including banker and Business Development Manager. After that, I went to Investec where I was a Business Development Manager. I recently joined Tenn as Business Development Director.

I’ve been fortunate to work with and learn from very experienced people and teams at Coutts and Investec, and that’s been something that I’m really grateful for – they’re both great companies.

One of the reasons I came to Tenn was because I liked the uniqueness of Tenn’s approach and offer. I think the fact that Tenn is focusing on global and international lending and solutions for high-net-worth borrowers fills a big gap in the market, and I’m excited to be part of bringing that to more borrowers and brokers.

What are you motivated by?

I’m motivated by adding real value to our clients. As I said, Tenn’s area of expertise in international bridging, lending to high-net-worth or complex borrowers, and liquidity finance fills a real gap in the market. We really care about what we do and delivering solutions to clients in a way that maybe unlocks capital they wouldn’t otherwise be able to access. I find that very motivating, and our way of working speaks to my personal approach to working and how I like to build relationships with clients and partners. We’re not just thinking about the transaction in isolation, but the whole solution, its delivery and what our clients and partners need every step of the way.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?

Be curious and ask questions! I’d also say do whatever you can to diversify your skills and experiences. I’ve found that the different roles I’ve had and the various things I’ve learnt doing them have been really useful to me as I’ve progressed my career.

Lastly, I’d say challenge norms and push yourself to grow and improve. Whatever your expertise is and however good you are, there’s always space to grow and it always pays off later.

Tell us about a hobby or passion

I’m a real foodie – I can read recipe books like novels! Joking aside, I love to eat out and try new restaurants, but I also enjoy cooking and being creative in the kitchen and trying new recipes at home. I love being outdoors and walking the dog too.

If you hadn’t ended up in your present role, what might you have done instead?

I’m very caring and love animals – when I was younger, I wanted to be a vet, so I studied all the sciences at GCSE and A-level. I was lucky enough to be able to do work experience in a veterinary practice, but I found when I got there that it didn’t feel like the best fit for me, and life took another path. I’ve transferred all that caring nature into looking after our clients or brokers, so it’s not a wasted personality trait! It comes easily to me, so I’m happy to have a role where that’s a primary expectation of how we approach relationships and execute our services.

What do you wish more people knew about Tenn?

The breadth of knowledge and experience in we have in Tenn coupled with it being a young business means we are able to apply years of industry expertise in a slick, dynamic and unique way. We genuinely care deeply about the quality of what we do and finding the best solution for every client, coming up with innovative solutions do to so.

Tell us about what you enjoy most in your role?

My favorite aspect to my role is building trusted, long-term relationships with a diverse range of introducers. I’m passionate about the unique and exciting proposition we have at Tenn and I love sharing this with others and establishing ways we can work together. As well at that, the breadth of my role at Tenn means I’m involved in lots of different aspects of the business and being able to see cases through every step of the process which is very rewarding.

Sharing my insights and being able to influence the business is also something I like if I see gaps or trends. Because we’re a small team, I can step in and get involved in things that might not be possible in a bigger company.

What three words describe you best?

Committed. Ambitious. Inquisitive.

What values do you live by?

Integrity is very important to me – being honest, keeping your word and treating everyone with the same level of respect. I think it’s also really important to approach everything with a positive attitude and look for solutions rather than focus on problems.

What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

I don’t think I’m a particularly daring person so probably doing a spur of the moment sky dive in Melbourne, which is a little out of character! I was travelling and thought it would make a memorable end to the trip which it definitely did. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done and would love to do it again.
